Built for cultivators who demand clean, reliable performance, Rhizo Funga’s sterilized grain bags are prepared using carefully hydrated whole oats and packaged in genuine Unicorn 4T-INJ bags—the industry standard for mushroom cultivation.
Each 4T-INJ bag features a 0.2-micron filter patch for balanced gas exchange and a self-healing injection port for direct inoculation with a spore syringe or liquid culture.
Sterilization Process
Every batch is processed in-house using Rhizo Funga’s controlled, multi-stage hydration and sterilization method. Grains are cleaned, hydrated to precise field capacity, and sterilized, where both temperature and pressure are continuously monitored.
Spawn to Bulk Ratio
For efficient colonization and strong yields, we recommend using 1 lb of fully colonized grain spawn for every 5 lbs of bulk substrate, such as hardwood or manure-based sterile mix.
Inoculation
Inoculate the bag through the self-healing port in a clean workspace using 2.5–5 cc of liquid culture or spore solution. Avoid using an entire syringe, as excessive moisture can oversaturate the grain and slow colonization.
Wait about one week after arrival before inoculation to ensure the bag remained uncompromised in transit. All Rhizo Funga sterilized grain bags are covered by our sterility guarantee—any compromised bag will be replaced.
Colonization & Use
Store inoculated bags in a clean, shaded environment between 65–75 °F. Mycelium growth typically appears within 1–3 weeks, depending on species and culture vigor. Once several inches of growth are visible, gently break up and mix the colonized grains to distribute mycelium evenly—this accelerates colonization.
Fully colonized bags will appear solid white and are ready to use as spawn at roughly 1 lb grain per 5 lbs bulk substrate (such as hardwood or Master’s Mix).
Storage
Uninoculated bags should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Refrigeration is unnecessary. Properly stored, bags remain viable for several months.
